Here is a 1992 Novara X-R in forest green. The X-R is a hybrid frame, so don't let the 50cm c-to-c measurement fool you: the ideal rider will measure around 5'10. The frame is set up to tour. It's built with Tange butted MTB steel and has eyelets for front and rear fenders as well as racks. It can take as much weight, rain and hills as you can stack, weather and climb.

This bicycle was fully restored and reconfigured at the Center for Bicycle Repair, in Kent, WA with the goal of creating an entry-level touring bicycle.

You will get a bicycle that is fully ready to take on tour. I've left the handlebars unwrapped in order to test the fit of the stem. Different leg/torso ratios can have a big impact on fit when it comes to touring bicycles. We will work to make sure to find a stem that fits you. Once the fit is right, the handlebars will get new tape.

The Exage 500 CX brake calipers, rear derailleur and crank are original. I updated the wheels (double-walled Alex rims), front derailleur and shifters (9sp Shimano Tiagra) and added fenders. Brand new 9sp chain and rear cog set.

The conversion to integrated Tiagra shifters was not easy but a major plus. The geometry allows you to ride with a straight back and to maintain a level field of vision.

This bicycle was road tested: braking, shifting, steering and power transfer were all confirmed.
